🏡 House Visit to Blk 79D Continued my visit to residents of Blk 79D, where I had the privilege of meeting Mr Wong, who had just moved in a few days ago. At 86 years old, he remains energetic and strong, and even keeps active through GymTonic. I also met young Kirana, who has a strong passion for learning. She is currently learning chess, math, Japanese and Mandarin on Duolingo! She is a great example of curiosity and self-driven learning from a young age. Dear TPYC Residents 👋 I know many of you have noticed the closure of the carpark near Blk 63. I wanted to acknowledge the inconvenience this has caused - especially for those of you who park there regularly, and for the merchants at Blk 74 market who depend on footfall from the area. I visited the market yesterday morning and heard directly from stallholders and residents. Their concerns are valid, and I am working with HDB to make sure we address them properly. HDB and I had met with Toa Payoh Vista Merchant Association and our grassroots team to discuss better wayfinding to alternative carparks. Wayfinding signages and navigational posters will be printed as banners and placed around. Do share it with your friends and family! So what is coming? ✅ A new HDB development with more homes for Singaporeans to live close to family in Toa Payoh ✅ A new Multi-Storey Car Park - more spaces than before ✅ A new pavilion and more sheltered walkways for everyone HDB will announce more details of the development when it is launched. Parliament sits today, and I’ve filed a series of PQs across public transport affordability and support for vulnerable groups, the adequacy and responsiveness of social assistance schemes, workforce sustainability in healthcare and aquaculture, access to dialysis, and how we support seniors to age in place. They also look at system-level issues such as how we track workforce outcomes, diversify critical service healthcare providers, and ensure greater clarity and alignment within the social service sector. Taken together, these questions reflect a broader focus on building systems that are not only effective, but also fair, transparent, and responsive in a changing environment. 📄 Lasting Power of Attorney Certification Session Dropped by the Lasting Power of Attorney certification session and was encouraged to see residents taking steps to plan ahead for the future. A Lasting Power of Attorney allows you to appoint someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf should you lose mental capacity. From 1 April 2026, applications for LPA Form 1 will be permanently free for Singapore citizens, making it easier for more residents to put these arrangements in place early. Final run of March and I am so proud of our residents for showing up! 👟 Even while overseas with the family this week, the Toa Payoh Central connection stayed strong. I happened to bump into our very own TPYC runners, Jeff and his twin Jason on the same cruise. Of course, we couldn't break the routine - we laced up and hit the deck for a run together on Sat morning! 🚢 While the scenery might change, that kampung spirit travels with us wherever we go.
