Together with community builders in Toa Payoh, I visited "T5 in the Making", an exhibition featuring the developments of T5 which will be completed in mid 2030s. Honoured to be hosted by Chu Hwai, an architect from the T5 team behind the project to share considerations of planning and design. Changi East, the site where T5 will be built — is an area about the size of Toa Payoh Town. T5 will be supported by expanded connectivity through the Thomson–East Coast Line and Cross Island Line, strengthening access across the island. What stood out was the long-term planning behind the development. From integrating AI and automation into airport operations, to improving land and sea connections - including links to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal for regional sea travel — this is about ensuring Singapore remains competitive as a global air hub. 🏃‍♂️ 100km with Toa Payoh Central (TPYC) 🏃‍♀️ Since 9 August, 40 participants have come together across 20 Lace Up sessions. What began as a bi-weekly run to engage more younger residents has grown into a weekly community run since November. Together, we’ve clocked close to 100km — one run at a time. Now, we’re taking this further by forming a team to run 100km in 12 hours at the Race for Cancer. The minor "convenience" of one can be at great inconvenience and cost to many. I was alerted to the common rubbish chute at Blk 169 catching fire today. This is the second time it has happened within the stack over the past 2 months. The
The minor "convenience" of one can be at great inconvenience and cost to many. I was alerted to the common rubbish chute at Blk 169 catching fire today. This is the second time it has happened within the stack over the past 2 months. The cause of fire in both instances was due to a lit cigarette buds being thrown down the chute. Thanks to our conservancy workers, the fire was put out early. Things could have turned out a lot worse. Many residents in that block are seniors. Our Town Council will be issuing notices to all units in that stack. I seek the cooperation of all residents to be considerate neighbours and not take fire safety lightly. #BishanToaPayohGRC #ToaPayohCentral #ComeHometoTPYC

[Toa Payoh Central Zone 3 Home Improvement Programme – Poll Results] Glad to share that polling for the Home Improvement Programme in Toa Payoh Central Zone 3 has concluded successfully. All 13 blocks have achieved the required 75% support, and the programme will proceed for every block. Thank you to residents for taking the time to participate. Your strong support reflects our shared commitment to improving our homes and addressing ageing-flat issues such as spalling concrete and water seepage. [Kids Club- Homework Support] Spent the evening after parliament at our Z4 Kids Club. Volunteers from the Toa Payoh Central Youth Network (@tpycyn) and Toa Payoh Central Community Club (@toapayohcentral.cc) have come together to sit alongside our children and help them through their schoolwork. Apart from homework, it was an opportunity to understand their family circumstances. One shared about his dinner - biscuits. Another shared about how his older brother had broken a window at school, and his mother had broken down at home which was why he was late. An older brother fought with his younger brother, and our volunteers mediated. Children bearing struggles - of screen addiction, caregiving, anger management, peer pressure and influence. But for a moment in time at Kids Club, we know they are under good influence and appropriate guidance. Small, consistent acts of care go a long way in how community can make a big difference for families. And that they are not alone in this journey. One fire is one too many. Between July and October last year, I walked through the aftermath of three fires in Toa Payoh Central. In one, we lost two residents. Afterwards, residents shared that they no longer felt safe in their own homes, concerned about the safety of PMAs and Active Mobility Devices. That’s why since September, I’ve filed 16 parliamentary questions across MOT, MHA and MTI on device safety, battery risks and fire prevention. In today’s debate on the Land Transport Bill, I spoke on: * Clear community education, especially for seniors * Safe disposal of non-compliant PMAs * Fair enforcement of lower speed limits * Stronger fire safety standards I support this Bill and look forward to its implementation on 1 June 2026.
